Rashes from severe hot flashes

I have been having hot flashes for about 3 or 4 years now.  There have been periods of time when I had no flashes at all, which is when I have had my period……over the past 3 or 4 months I have had the hot flashes more severely than before – often one every hour or half hour.  I get them all day and in the evening too.  When I do get them while I'm sleeping I also feel a tingling sensation down my hips and legs.  I now have a rather severe rash on my left thigh, and I am not normally allegoric to anything and take no medications.  Is it possible that this is related to the hot flashes?  I went to a dermatologist and was originally treated with a topical solution, Cybol(?), which really didn't seem to do anything – in fact the rash worsened.  Now, I am on an antihistamine to treat the situation internally.  It just occurred to me that since the rash is taking place where I usually feel the sensation during a nighttime flash that they may be related.  Have you ever heard of rashes resulting from severe hot flashes?  Please advise.

Thanks much.

There is no evidence that hot flashes cause rashes, but if you sweat profusely in the night you skin may have become irritated. It is also possible that you are having an allergic reaction to something. Allergies can develop at any age. You may be allergic to a medication you might be taking or to any herbs you may be taking for menopause symptoms. You could also be having an allergic reaction to your laundry detergent. I would recommend that you visit you doctor and discuss your situation.
