Vaginal discharge and stress

I am 56 years old.  I almost make it to the 1 year mark when I have a day or two of pink to light brown discharge.  It isn't a period, but more of a discharge.  Over the past few months, I've been dealing with more than usual stress and have noticed this discharge occurring about every 3-4 weeks for 2 or 3 months now.  I also notice that prior to this happening, I have slight discomfort as in ovulation.  Is this common?

A slightly blood-tinged, thin discharge could be a sign of atrophic vaginitis. This condition occurs in approximately 40 percent of postmenopausal women and is caused by the weakened lining of the endometrium from a lack of estrogen. Another cause could be fibroids in the uterus. If this continues much longer please consult your doctor for a diagnosis and possible treatment.
