Question:
My son's wife is going through menopause and he made a statement that you could die from menopause. I said I didn't think so. I went through it – and took hormone replacements – but didn't have any symptoms, so my doctor said to stop it when they came out with the fact that it wasn't good for you. Could you please answer the question?

Answer:
It’s a simplification to say that HRT isn’t good for you. As a rule, people should use HRT for the absolute minimum required to manage their condition. But that is true of virtually all medications. As for menopause being fatal, we’ve never heard of someone being killed solely by the cessation of their period.
