Pregnancy and PerimenopauseLast year, my gynecologist told me I was perimenopausal. He also said that since I am over 50 years old, that I should not be on the pill anymore. Is it possible to become pregnant during perimenopause? I am still having occasional periods. If I should still be on some kind of birth control, what kind do you recommend I use ? In the past, the only thing I ever used was the pill and I am not confident that any other method works as well.
Answer
Unless your period has stopped for a full year, you can still become pregnant. If your doctor suggested that you stop taking the pill, then you would be wise to follow that advice. What to use for birth control now depends on the frequency of intercourse (daily, weekly, monthly) and if you are with a reliable partner you trust. Once you figure out what your needs are, you might ask your partner to get a vasectomy. Or you may opt for condoms or a diaphragm.
Ordering Products
Could you tell me if I would be able to order Anew product or something similar for the symptoms for Menopause. I need something quickly. Unfortunately I live in England do you distribute in the UK area? Could you send me some samples?

Return of Hot Flashes
I have been taking Estroven Extra Strength since May 2004. In the beginning, it helped my hot flashes. However, for the past few months, they seem to have returned. I also have trouble sleeping at night. Is this normal or has the Estroven stopped working? I have been taking them in the morning after breakfast. Should I start taking them in the evening after dinner?

Answer
I am not qualified to answer questions about specific medications. You should speak with your GYN. Alternative solutions may also work for you.
Post Menopausal Symptoms
Is there any safe product that helps with vaginal dryness and pain during intercourse? I don't want a drug. I've tried lubricants and progesterone creams.
- JoAnne
Answer
Try applying castor oil or flax seed oil in your vagina. You will want the most pure oil you can find. For alternative options , talk to a N.Dr. to determine exactly which will work the best for you.
