Menopause and Thryoidectomy

I had my last period October 10. On November 17, I had a complete removal of my thyroid and was put on Synthroid (150 mcg). My gynecologist said I was too young to be going through menopause but gave me a hormone blood test (tested 60 = very high). I am 46 years old and he said I should take progesterone and estrogen or "I would dry up like a prune in 5 years". He also said he wouldn't recommend the same treatment to a 70-year-old woman. Any comment or websites you could direct me to?

Answer
I'd check our bookstore first. Sounds to me like you are in peri-menopause.
