It is not uncommon for women to gain 5 to 10 pounds during menopause. And it is also common for body fat to move to a new location in your body. Your waist may start to disappear. In a culture that glorifies the thin weight gain can be a real challenge for many women to accept.

Conventional Approach: Try your best to accept the change that comes with a slower metabolism. I actually threw out my bathroom scales a few years ago and my weight has been much less of an issue to me ever since.

Complimentary Therapies: Take up a physical activity that you love. It does not have to be equipment intensive or expensive. Daily walking is a perfect choice. Modify your eating habits. I do not endorse diets in any way. But I do reduce my intake of butter, sugar and flour every now and again and increase my consumption of fresh fruit and veggies. Reduce your intake of alcohol and, get your daily requirements of calcium and vitamin D. Check with your Pharmacist for amounts.
